"Colour is one of the great things in the world that makes life worth living."
Georgia O'Keeffe

I'm an avid photographer and my camera travels with me in my handbag,  so my sketchbook is actually my camera. I like to travel light and can't bring myself to carry a sketchbook with me plus the paints etc etc.  In any case, I'm very daunted by the very arty sketchbooks some people seem to produce...

My favourite artists are Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist and architect, who lived at around about the same time as the better-known Klimt.  Also  Franz Marc  of the "Blaue Reiter" group in Germany and  Paul Klee,  who was Swiss.   Vincent van Gogh made a huge impression on me when I first came across him with his bold brush-work.

Whilst thinking of these artists, I realised that, apart from Georgia O'Keeffe, there was not one woman among them, which was actually not a true reflection of my admiration.  So I looked up "British Women Artists" and the list of these living artists is inspirational, to say the least!  Do have a look!
